Application Process

There is no application process as such. Interns are selected only on the basis of the recommendation of the associates/ senior associates working with the firm. A senior friend of mine forwarded my CV to one of the associates and I got a confirmation.

Duration of internship and timings

1st July, 2015 – 30th July, 2015, 1 month.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

They have a huge building in the heart of Delhi. It is located in the Atma Ram Mansion, Scindia House, Connaught Place.

On the first day we were given an option to choose between the Tax team and Corporate Team. One mentor was assigned to each intern. I was a part of the corporate commercial team. One of the Senior associate assigned me some research work on the very first day right after the introduction session.

Main tasks

In the Corporate team interns were given all sorts of research works. Proofreading was something every intern had to do at some point of time during their stay at PDS Legal. Some interns even got a chance to do some Due Diligence work as well. Making powerpoint presentations on various topics related to commercial laws was a frequent task.

Other than that I also got a chance to work with the Indirect Taxes team. I did some research and drafting for them.

Work environment and people

The associates were really helpful over there. They took time to explain the concepts in a lucid manner. Working environment was really positive. Interns never hesitated a bit before approaching any of the associates for any doubts or queries.

Best things

Although interns were allotted a mentor on the first day. However they were free to seek work from any of the associates. This helped in making more connections and gave a variety of experience to the interns. I don’t remember sitting idle even for a day in that office.

Bad things

This is one internship where I did not experience anything that could be characterized as a ‘Bad Thing’.

Stipend

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

One should be intellectual, hardworking and dedicated. In corporate world you have to be on your toes all the time to excel. There is no room for any mistake.
