You will receive a reply within the following week ,however follow ups are required. This was followed by an interview.

Duration of internship and timings

I interned for a period of 4 weeks.

1st May, 2015 to 30th May, 2015.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Being the first day, I arrived well before time.Contrary to my expectations the office had a very laid back atmosphere which takes a while getting used to .

On my very first day I was given a brief introduction about the foundation’s primary projects. I was made to sign an NDA and a basic set of rules and regulations was handed over.

Main tasks

My primary task was making case notes on the quarterly developments of the HIV Positive children living in the care home .

I researched extensively on correlation between homosexuality and religion and the impact it has on present day law.

Work environment and people

The work environment was very casual and laid-back. The coordinators were friendly and supportive. I was given the freedom to do the work according to my own judgement and was given the freedom to voice my opinion.

Best things

Easy accessibility

Exposure to the problems faced by the LGBT community.

Freedom to voice my opinion

Bad things

The deadlines were unrealistic at times.

There wasn’t much legal work.

Stipend

None

Biggest Lessons

Enthusiasm is your best friend. You have to ask for work and get involved.

The harder you work, the more appreciation and incentive you get .

Any Other Thing

I also had the opportunity to get scholarships for the care home children from Bal Bhawan.
