Application Process

A friend of mine from college told me about an internship vacancy available at this firm. Thereafter I went to their office in Kalkaji for an interview.

Duration of internship and timings

27th June, 2011 – 16th July, 2011

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

There were no formalities as I’d already met Sir and the associates at the interview. Me and the one other intern who had joined were explained our work clearly. All the associates were friendly and were very helpful.

Main tasks

Initially I was required to read the files so as to understand the filing system and indexing. After a few days I was given research work. At the end of the day we were asked to prepare a brief of the case we had been working on.

Work environment and people

The environment was quite friendly but we had to be punctual and were expected to be prompt with our tasks.

Best things

I got the opportunity to visit all the courts in Delhi and observe how the workings of the High Court and the Supreme Court are different from that of the lower courts. Also, I got to research for a lot cases and this increased knowledge helped me a lot later.

Bad things

The work was quite hectic.

Stipend

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

I learnt that to be a good practitioner you first need to be a good theoretician first.
