DURATION OF INTERNSHIP AND TIMINGS

The duration of my internship in the firm was 1 month, 2nd November to 29th November, 2016.

Timing’s were : 10:00 A.M. to 8 P.M.

FIRST IMPRESSION, FIRST DAY FORMALITIES

On my first day, I reached the office at sharp 10:00 A.M. The location of office is such, that it was easy to commute and locate. Lakshmi Nagar or Akshardham Metro stations are the nearest. The office is located in B-55 Retreat Apartments, 20 IP Extension, Patparganj, New Delhi – 110092.

When I entered the office I was asked to wait in the conference room by the staff. On the walls of the conference room and in the waiting area for clients there were many news articles pasted highlighting the work done by Mr. Anupam Tripathi, which also reflects his love for animals.

There is separate area for Associates and interns to carry out their work. The associates and interns are provided with desktop computers. But if you want, you can carry your own laptop.

MAIN TASKS

The main tasks that were given to me were research, drafting, preparing case notes and court visits. The best part of the internship is that here Anupam Sir does not treat you like just another intern (Unlike other firms) but considers you as part of the team and gives you responsibilities.

Also, one of the highlights of the internship with The Practice was that you are loaded with a lot of work and there is no moment when you are sitting idle in search of work. You would get a varied kind of exposure here, from working on family matters, consumer cases, corporate cases, and animal rights cases etc.

It was a great learning experience overall. It was a great experience for me to know the procedure of courts also as in few court visits I had to visit the Consumer Courts and Karkardooma Court for matters. Another commendable thing which makes this internship an enriching and learning experience is the exposure you get by visiting each and every Court in Delhi and NCR that is starting from the District Consumer Forum’s, District Courts to Supreme Court of India.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PEOPLE

The working environment was really good and all the Associates were also very helpful.  The long hours hardly turned out to be frustrating.

The Associates were friendly and we used to have lunch together.

BEST THINGS

The working atmosphere was positive and every one the Associates were very helpful. The long hours hardly clad to be frustrating.

The Associates were friendly, helpful and made the interns very comfortable. Once in a month Anupam Sir, also hosts a lunch at his place, everyone looks forward to it as it always happens to be icebreaker between all, taking away the stress of work. At Practice, everyone is given a chance to prove themselves and come forward to lead.

BAD THINGS

There was no bad thing as such that I faced during my duration of internship. The only thing that I can remember is that there is no place nearby from where you can go and have lunch in case you feel very hungry, though the coffee and maggi available here is always there to rescue.

But at the same time there are a few restaurants in Mayur Vihar.

Phase II market which are 200 meters or so from the office to deliver when hungry.

BIGGEST LESSONS

The fundamental goal of the internship position is to learn and become acquainted with the field, before you really go into the same and that was the best part of The Practice. Learning numerous new things and knowing the estimation of demonstrable skill, diligent work, and dependability.

A lesson from Anupam Tripathi Sir was the one of the best lessons that I ever had learnt. He always used to say while briefing that there are several lawyers in the world but the real lawyers are those who get the work done efficiently and effectively.
