First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure

The first day was very exciting for me as very first i got opportunity to met with the founder who is very gentle and down to earth person. He asked few questions related to engineering and law. Thereafter, he gave me an overview about my work during internship.

There was not much formalities except submission of college id card photocopy. Office is present in a residential area with sufficient space. For intern, they used to provide separate cubicle with desktop and high speed LAN. (Not carrying LAPTOP was another best thing )

Main Tasks

Most of the work is related with Patent and Trademark. I was dealing with following tasks:

1. Prior art Searching related to various subject matters of engineering and science.

2. Finding out the possibilities of IP rights in various emerging sectors. That finding was the major work of my internship.

3. Preparation of technical reports related to various invention.

4. Twice or thrice I got an opportunity to Draft a reply against objection raised by Patent examiner in my way.

PS- Mr. Lalit ( Founder) always used to motivate me to give my legal opinion on various issues. He is very open minded person.

Work environment, People

The people were very warm and helpful. They were really friendly and always ready to listen to all my queries patiently.

They all used to do lunch together. Also, one can use kitchen at any time for having food.

Other than work, one can also get the opportunity to know about their hard work and struggle for running a successful startup.

Best Things

The best thing about Patentwire is they treat their employees/ interns really well. Also, they were always available for guiding me.

They are also having clients from US, Europe and this gives you a knowledge about drafting of Patents in those territories.

One of the best moments during my internship was when I got the opportunity to discuss about an invention directly to an inventor as a representative of Patentwire.

Bad Things

Mostly work is related to drafting, filing etc. So, one will not get any chance to know about legal proceedings of court.

Stipend

Rs. 5000 for 2 months

Biggest Lessons

“Everyone want to eat the mango but very less are having the courage to grow a mango tree”- said one of the top three at Patentwire.

Any Other Thing

This internship helps me to understand why a sound technical knowledge is a prerequisite for becoming a good Patent Attorney.
