Application Process with contact details
I sent a mail to [email protected] and got a reply within a week. It was followed by a telephonic interview and finally got the confirmation for the internship.
Duration of internship and timings
4 weeks from 6 May 2014 to 31 May 2014.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
My first day I reached the office at 10 AM. Sir took a small interview of what I know of law. Then I was shown some files to look at the formats of complaint Case, Civil petition, details in FIR etc.
It was more of the introduction: Introduction to the firm and to the legal proceedings in courts.
It was a lawyer’s chamber and well-furnished with ample space for 2 lawyers and 2 internees.
Being a first year, not much work was given to me but the time I spend there was an experience.
I attended court proceedings (district courts and consumer forum), filing in Trial Courts & High court and had proof-reading work, Case law finding etc. Some drafting work was also given to me for learning.
Work environment and people
It was a lawyer’s chamber, so it was in the court’s complex.
There was the legal head and his assistant. They both were very co-operative and friendly. It felt like more of friendly rather than a professional relationship.
The best was the environment and work there. I both enjoyed and learned a lot while being with Sir.
Also, during my internship, I visited 3 district courts and High Court too.
The worst is there was no co-intern in my time. Sometimes (initially) I felt very lonely. Non availability of internet inflated this loneliness.
Sorry. No stipend. But expenses were paid.
Learned how Time and Workload is logically maintained.
It’s surprising and motivating to see the way of working here.
You see how an advocate works, his determination and hard-work both put a feeling, motivation to do something without wasting of time.
Any Other Thing
For first years, I would suggest this internship as you will be visiting courts and will get to know how the court works. Sir gives ample opportunity to the internees to do court related works.
It is a very good place for learning.
