First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

JUSTICE T. P. S. CHAWLA LIBRARY, is well equipped technical and Legal Library. Firstly I was given with Login I.D to use the electronic data bases.

As while interning it was a summer vacation hence whole library was empty and had lots of space inside the library to sit around. All the Staff working their were kind and co-operative.

Main tasks

It was my first internship in first year, hence the main task was to enrich the knowledge with respect to ‘Research Methodology’. Few time assisted with few technical matters.

But, mainly it was more about, how to do research and had an exposure towards new Electronic Databases.

Work environment and people

Except for Delhi summer weather nothing else to be blamed for.

Work Environment is very good and they treat you as a part of university. It was indeed pleasure working with such a eminent luminaries.

Best things

Access to many Electronic Databases (West Law International, Lexis-Nexis Academic, Manupatra and SCC etc) inclusive of Primary and Secondary legal Sources. Subscribed to many International and National Law Journals, Books on various filed of law, Reports, commentaries and other reference materials.

All these materials assisted me in learning new methods while searching the judgement in Electronic Databases and furtherance enhance my Research Skills. The best thing was to being acquainted with new series of law documents.

Stipend

None

Biggest Lessons

It would be beneficial only for first year law students to be excel in legal research, mainly where to find the law, to distinguish between the authentic and other publications.

This would give you a perfect opportunity to relearn the mode of citation and be perfect on it. As it would be easy for your near future commitments.

Any Other Thing

My internship was in June 2011, Hence I am not aware of the presents situation of the Library internship in NLU Delhi. Never the less it would be the first step to be perfect in law career. As most interns ought for an NGO’s or few firms in their initial stage of internships. If some one trying for a different exposure it would be the best.
