I got through a recommendation but you can always visit their website for getting details to apply at their other offices HERE.

However, the contact person at the Delhi Office for internships is Mrs. Catherine Cardoza and she can be reached at [email protected]

Duration in weeks. Days of work per week. Timings.

5 days a week and timings as per the Internship Confirmation letter states 9AM – 6PM. But, it depends if you’re required to visit the courts then you can report directly at the court or otherwise its always better to be in office by 9:30 where you have to mark your daily IN-OUT timings under the supervision of Mr. Bibhuti (Librarian-in-charge).

First impression, first day, formalities

To be Honest I was coming with ‘hear-say’ from my class mates who’ve interned earlier here that there isn’t much work at Dua Associates, Delhi.

But, I was wronged the very first day; just after the basic formalities of filing up the Internship Form and getting a worksheet to be maintained throughout the course of your internship; you are allotted under an Associate/Senior Associate/Partner who will be your mentor.

On the very first day just after the formalities, I was called by my Mentor (Partner/Corporate Team) and was introduced to his team who all introduced themselves as well and I was immediately given an assignment on Companies Act relating to Duties of Directors.

Main tasks

The good thing is that you are free to go to anyone and introduce yourself as an intern and ask for work. (This place is not meant for shy people) You have a choice as per your interest to either go to the Corporate or the Lit Team and get work.

I started off with Corporate side and got “really really” amazing research work which was all time bound depending upon when the replies to the client have to be sent out.

The Interns are seated in the Library, which may get congested as there were a lot of interns but if you’re pre-occupied with work then
it’s not much of a botheration. A tip – Carry Your Laptop and Internet Dongle with yourself if you wanna work freely and not be bound by the only 3 systems available there.

You’re bound to get into an argument with others for working on them, but they’re the only systems which have Manupatra and SCC access so you will ultimately have to use them.

However, after working for about 10 days with the Corp Team I moved down to the Lit Team and I was introduced to some really good associates and Senior Associates there, who gave me really good research work and all interesting and current work, which also brought the opportunity to visit the SC, HC, ILI and ISIL quite a few times.

So, mainly the work is research based and if you’re good enough the associates might give you some replies to the clients to be drafted and other various applications to be drafted.

Work environment, people

The Work Environment is a typical Corporate Law Firm type where you maintain a good relation only corresponding to your work and make a place only with the work you do, and I didn’t find any negatives there as all the administrative staff as well were very friendly and wiling to help in way they could.

The best things AND the bad things

The only thing that to be mentioned is that there are only 3 systems provided among 15 interns and the place becomes a bit congested. Otherwise, Overall a really great learning experience.

Stipend/month

No Stipend

Accommodation etc. What did you to do chill in and around the office and the place of stay?

My house was just next street so I used to walk down everyday, however others either drove down or Metro. Closest station being Rajiv Chowk.

The bunch of intern along with me were quite friendly and we all chilled out during lunch and sometimes after work, visiting various places in CP, Janapth etc etc.

Hey, I just wanted to know – does Dua Delhi allow you to switch between the Lit and the Corporate team? Or do you have to only stick with one team throughout the course of your internship? Let me know 🙂
