Duration of internship and timings

Four Weeks in July, 2014.

Morning 10 to 8 in the evening.

But one might be called a little early if Sir wants you to go to a court.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

First day was the best day. I reached office around 9:30 and was given a cubicle by the clerk.

Sir reached around 10:30 and directly went to his office space within the bigger office space.

There was a client meeting at 11:00 am in the office conference room and Sir asked me to attend that meeting with him.

Then after the meeting at around 1:00 pm, Sir called me to his office and introduced me the office, people, how to deal with clients, how to make money and various other tips and the day ended with a little more of work and snacks in the evening.

Office is a decent place in the basement of a residence.

It has two office spaces, one for Sir and the other for his wife who is also an advocate.

There are around 5-6 cubicles, one conference room and some extra space.

Main tasks

The work included drafting of legal notices, suits, letters to clients, RTI’s, etc.

There was also some research work that was given and most importantly I witnessed court proceedings (District and High Court), arbitration proceedings and tribunal proceedings (DRAT).

Sometimes I used to have work from both Sir and Mam at the same time with the same deadlines, that was quite interesting.

Work environment and people

The office strength was not much.

Except the two partners (Sir and Mam), there was only one associate, two clerks, 1 manager and 2 of us interns.

So it was a decent work environment not overloaded with cases and work but still good work.

People were all very nice and helpful, including Sir and Mam.

Whenever they used to pass by my cubicle, they always used to stop and ask if I was facing any problem.

Bad things

There were times when there was no work at all for the whole day.
