First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The first day formalities were nothing formal but it was necessary to read their brochure, the cause for which they are working , their different programs etc.

Main tasks

I was part of their two major programs, Community Service and Support for Survivors. Therefore my main task was to assist the team in community services in Bhatnagar near Pimpri Chinchwad. The community of Bhats are much prone to suicide and suicidal tendencies due to reason like alcoholism and caste issues.

Therefore the community service included going home to home in that community and talking to people and knowing the problems. Basically to provide an ear. Support for survivors meant offering emotional support to survivors of suicide i.e Visiting suicide survivors in hospitals and Visiting survivors in their homes and counselling them in such manner that they don’t try to commit the act again.

Work environment and people

The work environment was informal but disciplined.
