First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I reached the head office in Bhopal at 10.00 am on the first day I met Mrs. Sonali Banthia who gave me a very warm welcome and made me feel comfortable and home-like.

Mr. Neelesh Banthia joined us later and gave me all the details about the office and previous interns. He also briefed me about the firm.

Later, sir gave me one of files which had agreements and deeds like Permission to purchase, Permission to gift, Agreement to sell, Agreement to gift, Sale deed and Gift deed to study and understand.

Later in the day, I asked him many questions and doubts, all of which he answered very patiently.

Main tasks

There is no dearth of work in the office but the individual has to take initiative to get work.

The main tasks that I did at the firm was to draft various Sale Deeds, Wills, Power of Attorney, Gift Deeds, Partnership Agreement,Lease Agreement.

In addition to the above, I also researched in relation to the Indian Contract Act, 1872, the Indian Partnership Act, 1932, the Transfer of Property Act, 1882.

The work is extremely fulfilling and and a good effort is appreciated by the concerned taskmaster.

Work environment and people

It is an extremely conducive working environment. No one is in a hurry ever but somehow they manage to get the work done accurately on time. If you have good co-interns you may seek their help for completion of a task.

No one is competing with each other to be in the spotlight but rather are working collectively for the firm’s benefit. However the key to getting good work is to take up as much work, no matter how pedantic as possible and finish it on time in the best possible manner.

Whenever, Mr. Banthia is in the office, he would always take out time from his extremely busy schedule to help you out and clarify your doubts.

The owner, Mr. Neelesh Banthia is the most chilled out and amazing person I have come across not only during my internships but also in my entire life and he treats you with care and concern. Mr. Banthia is known for his humour and charm and around him you would never feel left out or alone.

The work environment is very comfortable and you will have all the facilities at your disposal. Tea, coffee and juice would be served to you at your command.

Best things

The best things about the firm were the flexible timings and the work environment.

There are no deadlines that you would be asked to meet for your assignments.

The basic idea behind the work given to the intern was that he/she could learn the law rather than just giving results to the topics given and to learn the practical application of law also.

The associates also welcomed doubts by the interns on the points which were not clear.

Bad things

None.

Stipend

Work based stipend.

Biggest Lessons

Life and work are inseparable but both require adequate time and attention. I learnt how to keep oneself motivated and relaxed even in intense pressure of work. The internship opened my eyes to practical, ground-work. Overall a good learning experience.
