Directions

Getting to office of Aura & Co is quiet easy. If you travel by Delhi Metro then it will be easy to reach the office. As we were staying near Malviya Nagar and we used to board the metro from Malviya Nagar and then we have to change the train once from Central Secretariat.

From Central Secretariat you will directly reach Lajpat Nagar. From Lajpat Nagar metro station the office is at a walking distance and it takes around 20 minutes.

Application Process

My application was sent through my brother who is an advocate in Delhi High Court.

First Impression

The first day I reached the Aura & Co office a bit early since I didn’t know at what time the interns were supposed to arrive. I was made to sit in the reception area of the firm. The office was spacious and uncluttered which gave a good impression, right on the first day.

At 9.30 am we met  Mr. Vivek Ranjan Mohanty, Associate of the Firm. A cheerful man, full of enthusiasm, he showed me to my desk and introduced me with the other associates of the firm.

Once all the interns were settled and allotted workstations, we were introduced to each person in the office which was a nice way to know the names of everyone (which didn’t take long considering there aren’t a lot of people in the office). We were shown the conference rooms, the library, the pantry and the cafeteria.

Main Task

The tasks assigned to the Interns were primarily research based tasks and giving briefs to the seniors about the case which is listed for the next day in the court.

The main areas of the Aura & Co Law Firm were- constitutional law, civil, company & industrial law, arbitration, mining law, property laws, international law and electricity laws.

It deals litigation and corporate affairs of all nature before the Supreme Court of India and all courts, tribunals, commissions, government corporations & offices etc., with our extensive team of lawyers and officers expertise in each related field.

The work environment was highly professional and relaxed. When one was given work, one was expected to do it with all seriousness and diligence.

The people at Aura & Co were extremely helpful, jovial and nice. And I mean associates, partners, support staff alike.

The firm had an open door policy in that all the associates/partners who had cabins left their doors open for anyone to walk in and discuss anything (unless they had a meeting/conference call).

This was extremely helpful for interns since generally a lot of them are hesitant in approaching partners but the same was not the case here.

Best Things

A positive aspect about the drafting of notes pertaining to the issues was that almost always, the interns were asked to give their own reasoning and analysis of issues, specially in the issue based research notes.

Bad Things

On the down side, there were times when no work was given to us.
