Small, The team comprised of Senior Partner Tushar Chawla, 1 Corporate lawyer, 1 litigation lawyer and HR, apart from 3 other supporting office staff.

I applied through the email address given in firm’s website for work in Corporate department. If selected, the HR would call you for the confirmation .

Accommodation

How, where, how was it? My college hostel in Delhi university, north campus. Since, the office is located in Saket, one can find accommodation in nearby areas like Khirki extension, Hauz khas etc.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

My first impression was fairly good. I was given this assignment of research in developments in telecom sector for last 2-3 years . The HR lady provided us with a welcome kit that included a basic form mentioning our details and duration of our internship.

It also included a form were we were supposed to mention the details of our work that we shall be undertaking in the entire month. She informed us that these details would be checked by respective associate, and then signed and verified by the senior partner at the end of internship for the issuance of internship certificate.

Main tasks (in detail)

I was given research on provisions of Master circulars issued by Reserve Bank of India in relation to export-import policy.

I also researched on laws in relation to public-private partnerships in healthcare. I also drafted case notes and briefs.

Then, I was also given research in relation to Company’s Act 1956, Industrial Disputes Act and domicile laws.

I was also required to give a power-point presentation on General Anti-Avoidance Rules (GAAR) along with my co-intern.

Work environment, people

The work environment is strict. We are accountable for all the work given within a time frame and associates personally give feedback on the work. The office staff is friendly and helpful. There is scope of lot of personal interaction with all the associates in the firm.

Best things? (Nothing is all bad)

The confidence I secured when I gave my first Corporate presentation in front of everyone in office, the scope of personal interaction with associates and the fact that your work is considered.

Bad things? (Nothing is all good)

I was once scolded for the absence of my other co-interns although when I was regular.

How on earth I’m responsible for their absence!

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

Since the office is located in posh DLF mall which is adjacent to Select Citywalk, everyday at lunch hours or after office, we used to roam in the mall and hit the food court.

Stipend/ month

None.

Anything else you’d like to tell

The office is fairly strict in its dealings so expect to be accountable. Moreover, the procedure of preparing your own certificate after verification of the internship form given in welcome kit is quite a tough task. They would not hand over the certificate in person but shall courier it to you in your mailing address.

Biggest lessons
