Application Process with contact details

I had applied via sending a mail to the HR, Ms. Guneet Kohli, regarding considering my candidature for a suitable opportunity. She replied asking me about the duration of the internship and informed about the formalities of the office. Currently, the HR is Ms. Monisha Pal.

Duration of internship and timings

I interned from 1st July, 2015 to 31st July, 2015.

The timings being 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The timings had to be strictly followed and not more than one holiday shall be permitted to you, just in case!

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

All those addicted to mobile phones, sad news! 😛 Yes, you guessed it right, mobile phones are not allowed inside the office. We were given separate lockers where we were supposed to keep all our belongings and forget about them till the break time i.e. 1:40 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

We were four interns. And on the first day we signed an agreement regarding the rules and regulations to be followed in the office. Right after that, we wrote a test, the format of which was the same as a law school entrance examination, with a few questions on researching skills.

A demo session took place wherein we were taught how to efficiently use SCC Online, moreover how to make case briefs, case notes etc.

Main tasks

I was working on a major project along with other allied tasks.

I contributed to the SCC Online blog and read cases, national and international, make briefs on it which would further be uploaded on the blog.

Work environment and people

Being a totally air-conditioned environment, I found it quite comfortable to work. We were given a separate system, stationery. People are very kind and the mentors are open to all the doubts and queries you could possibly have!

Best things

Working on a book to be released by the EBC was one of the best things. Also, I learnt to sit in front of the system for long, tedious hours and work with concentration. This place actually made me fall in love with reading.

Co-interns were extremely friendly and we would have open-ended discussions on topics.

Bad things

Exhaustive timings.

But hey, it did me a lot good! It accelerated my ability to sit and concentrate on a particular thing

Stipend

Books be your stipend!

Biggest Lessons

Learn to value time.

Any Other Thing

Concentrate on the work given at hand and then proceed on to the next thing. Happy interning!
