YOUTH AGAINST COUNTERFEITING AND SMUGGLING

Elocution Competition

Counterfeit and smuggled products are being produced and consumed in virtually all economies. In recent years, there has been an alarming expansion on the types of products being infringed, from luxury items to auto-parts to consumer goods to items that have an impact on personal health and safety. These illicit activities are threatening brands not only in every region of the country but across the globe.

Contraband, counterfeit and smuggled products hurt the integrity of the brand, diluting the brand owner’s reputation. This not only results in erosion of sales of the legitimate product but further [CASCADE]s onto affect the consumers in the form of health and safety hazards. The extent and effects of smuggling and counterfeiting are of such significance that they require strong and sustained action from governments, enforcement agencies, business, media, legal experts and consumers.

FICCI, to fight the menace of counterfeiting and smuggling, established the Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy (CASCADE) on 18th January, 2011.

FICCI CASCADE believes that it is important to bring the youth onboard the awareness campaign and through them influence the society as a whole. It is a fact that the modern day youth are prolific users of networking and communication tools and an idea planted in their minds can become an instrument of change. The key objective of the competition is to inspire the youth to be socially responsible citizens.
