Internship Experience @ Equity Lex Associates, New Delhi: I felt as though I was in my own office

Name

Mukesh Kumar Gaur

Organisation

Equity Lex Associates, Supreme Court of India, Delhi

3 Partners and Juniors

Application Process

I called my Sir directly with the reference of my Director Sir and with forwarding recommendation letter from my campus. Even after this process, I forwarded my C.V.

Duration

3rd June, 2015 – 30th June, 2015

First Day

On the first day, I reached my office at 12 0′ clock because it was my first visit to Delhi.

After the welcome in the office, I was directed by Sir to fulfill all the responsibilities to obtain an entry pass of Supreme Court. After I got it, I fulfilled my responsibilities at office brilliantly.

Infrastructure in the office: A mini library with law books everywhere , SCC , AIRs etc.

Main tasks

I got work in the Haryana Waqf Board. I researched on various matters, especially on civil, criminal, NDPS, international law etc, related to the Supreme Court of India as well as Delhi High Court.

I was directed to attend the court proceedings and prepared notes of matters listed in both the courts.

Environment

Favourable.

I felt as though I was in my own office.

I could use all the resources available in the library.

Friendly atmosphere and people assisted me to fulfill my task.

Best things

Everything was good according to me, as it was my first internship.

I was keen on attending the proceedings in the Supreme Court, because it is a step towards fulfilling my dreams.

I enjoyed the Supreme Court canteen as well.

Bad things

Nothing was bad as such, but there were certain external things which were not favourable to me: travelling from my hometown to reach the office by Delhi transport services was the worst experience.

I faced rush and traffic blockades while travelling.

Stipend

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

Learnt lot of things from this internship. I understood the value of advocates in the Supreme Court, and how anyone can become a famous lawyer.

Learnt procedure of Special Leave Petitions and Writ Petitions.

I also learnt of curative petitions, which were unknown to me prior to the internship.

Anything else?

There were many others things which I learnt.

I want to specially thank Sir, who provided me with the opportunity to work under his supervision in Equity Lex Associates.

I hope to work with them again.
