Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings.
Three weeks. Monday-Saturday. 10 a.m to 4 p.m but the timings were flexible in the sense that if the work gets done before time then interns are allowed to leave early.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
My first impression was pretty good. There was an orientation session on the first day at Tis Hazari Court.
We were informed about the working of the organisation. Executive members of DLSA were also present.
The main idea behind this internship is to make the students gain practical knowledge about legal aid. We had field visits daily. We visited the following places:
1. Tihar Jail
2. Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences(IHBAS)
3. Observation Homes
4. Child Welfare Committee (CWC)
5. Police Station
6. Gender Resource Centres (GRC)
7. Patiala House Court
Our main task was to see the working of the place and interact with people there.
Work environment, people
There were around 60-70 interns.
We were divided into groups of 5-7 people.
All of us coordinated well.
1. A proper schedule was given to us which included the each and every detail of the place to visit and the person whom to contact.
2. My personal favourite was the visit to Tihar Jail!
3. Good exposure
4. Timings were flexible
1. Though travelling was a problem sometimes but it was all worth it!
2. No stipend
What did you do to chill?
There were 7 people in my group. All of them were from different Universities.
We coordinated really well. Since we had a new venue everyday we used to go out and explore the place after work!
Anything else you’d like to tell
It gives you complete practical knowledge about the legal aid system.
It was a great learning experience.
