Internship Experience @ Amarchand Mangaldas (AMSS), Delhi

Name of the organization. City

Amarchand and Mangaldas and Suresh Shroff & Co., New Delhi

Duration of the internship. No. of days/week. Timings

I interned from 5th Aug 2013-16th Aug 2013 i.e for two weeks and the timings used to be 0900 hrs to 1900 hrs.

How big was the office? Team strength?

The office was situated in Okhala and was a luxuries one.

Royalty is the correct word to define the office.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

I applied for the internship in Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh Shroff & Co. through some personal contacts but still there was a bit of procedure that was required to be followed despite the fact that you apply through some personal contacts.

What I was asked for was my Resume and after sending my resume to them I received a form from the firm which I was supposed to fill.

Now, after that if they feel appropriate, then they send a letter of confirmation and luckily, I got through it and I received the letter of confirmation.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

Accommodation is one of the toughest tasks that one has to look for once the internship is fixed. Fortunately, my family is already settled in Delhi so I did not have to face accommodation issues.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

The moment I entered in the office, I was like WOW! Well, first day was quite lite [Ed’s note: biscuit fan, eh?] and no such word was allotted then. First day was basically meant to get friendly with co-interns so that it is easier to work together later on.

We were also briefed about the firm, its’ internship policies, teams (as in, you belong to which team or precisely, with whom you have to work) and the way we have to work during the tenure of our internship in the firm.

Main tasks for my Amarchand Delhi internship

The first task at internship which was given to me was related to a contract between two countries and the private contractors, and the contract was related to construction of railway tracks. The work allotted was to find out points where the respondent went wrong in performing their part of contract.

Then we got some research work on some matters of family law. And then the second big work was related to matter of BHEL, ALBILAL AND MGI.

Other than research on few issues related to it, a due diligence report was to be made.

Work environment, people

Environment at Amarchand Delhi was very formal and healthy.

Interns could easily contact associates through outlook. Associates were quite helpful and always ready to answer your queries.

Best things about the Amarchand Delhi internship?

Interning in a prestigious firm like Amarchand & Mangaldas & Shroff & Co. is in itself a best thing. Apart from this, the work environment and the tasks assigned were the best things about the internship in the firm.

Bad things?

The work environment was very formal. So work at times was very hectic.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

Having a coffee, sitting in canteen and interacting with co-interns were some of the ways to chill during the internship.

  1. to the editors says:

why on earth would you publish client names? just because the intern is silly enough to tell you?

    • administrator says:

Well, we did edit some of the ‘main tasks’ of this internship experience.

We do realize that some of the client related data is confidential and we’ll continue to take care of that, however, this post contains no such data which can be classified as confidential.

Some of the client ‘names’ were not deleted. Why should they be? When they are reported as ‘deals’ it’s ok, otherwise it’s not?
