amarchand delhi internship

Name. College. Year of Study.

Pankhuri Agrawal, National Law University, Odisha, IV Year

Name of the organization. City

Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co., Delhi

Duration of the internship No. of days/week. Timings

I worked for two weeks in the month of December.

How big was the office? Team strength?

Amarchand & Mangaldas is the best law firm across India.

It ranks on the top position and like its name the office is huge and impressive with eighty five managing partners and around five hundred Legal Associates.

The office is situated in Okhla Industrial Area and has all qualities of a giant law firm, never disappointing its internees with the majestic building and Café Coffee Day vending machine.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

I got through it with the help of College Internship Committee which was followed by submitting a long questionnaire which literally plunged into every aspect as if it is an off desk interview before recruitment.

Well this is a tough job, since you have to write an excellently for getting selected for the internship.

So I can say that even though an opportunity was provided to me by College Internship Committee, still I had to meet the selection procedure for internees.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

I lived in a Paying Guest house in Kalkaji which is around 15 minutes by auto from the firm. It was a good place and in a place like Kalkaji you will get numerous P.G’s available.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

All the internees have to reach there by 9:30 on the first day of the internship, which is followed by an interactive session with the HR (we had Ms. Deepa Mittal), making us familiar with the firm structure, its aims and objectives and the expected code of conduct from the internees.

We were required to submit a form with our details and areas of interest and were later allotted the teams.

Main tasks =

Like every law firm, the better part of the work includes the researching different laws, judgments, framing arguments, answering the queries etc.

I used to draft application and make research on the latest judgments applicable to our cases.

The drafting works may be given depending upon the team and nature and quantity of work with them.

Work environment, people

You have to be professional when you work with a professional institution. Though the firm has very formal setup but the associates are very cordial, approachable, friendly, and encouraging.

Their attitude towards the internees is really appreciative and considerate. The co-internees were also cooperative and loved to share their varied experiences.

Thus, the environment is very suitable for the one heading towards making future in such law firms.

Best things?

When learned and experienced lawyers talk to you in humble and cordial manner and when you have CCD cups ready at your service all time, you would surely call it the Best.

The other best thing is you are interning in Amarchand & Mangaldas, then what else you want.

Bad things?

The extreme formalistic set up and too many internees are two things which I feel are not appropriate.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

Though hilarious and when all already said, the best part was the paratha wali shop near the firm which made our lunch time enjoyable and a good excuse to be away from our seat.

I made some of the co-internees my friends and we used to hangout together.
